Based on Decree 30/2020/NĐ-CP, a certification copy is an accurate reproduction of the content of the original document or the main part of a document, presented in accordance with prescribed forms and techniques.
- From a legal perspective, certification copies can be classified as follows:
+ State certification copies (performed by state agencies: State Notary Offices, People's Committees of Districts, Communes, Wards, and Justice Offices).
+ Private certification copies (performed by private notary offices).
+ Company certification copies (performed at the company issuing the document or by companies authorized to provide certification copy services).
- Regarding the form and execution, certification copies can be further classified as follows:

* Conditions for making certification copies:
+ For documents in Vietnamese: They must be the original documents issued by state agencies or legal entities (in Vietnam, this means they must be in Vietnamese), and they cannot be copies of copies. Additionally, the document should contain complete information such as the name, position, signature, and official seal of the authorized person.
+ For documents in a foreign language: They must be original documents that have been legalized by the Consular Department, Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, or Vietnamese embassies and consulates abroad. Copies of already legalized documents are not accepted, except for certain foreign education records with a connection in Vietnam (in which case legalization may not be required).
